what to expect

We rented a summer camp.  Yes, really.

There will be campfire s'mores, lawn games, and docent-led activities to choose from.  There are 250 acres of trails to explore, gardens to wander, and good company to enjoy.

The entire weekend will be kid-friendly, and we hope to have some fun activities just for the littles.

Check-in: Guests are welcome starting Thurs 6/26/25 at 2pm, but some rooms will not be available until 6pm.  There will be a place to store bags in the meantime.

Check-out: Sun 6/29/25 at 11am.

We would love to have you for as long as you're able, but if you can only make it for the ceremony, dinner, and dancing, that all starts Sat 6/28/25 at 5pm!

We'll provide locally sourced, allergy-friendly, hopefully delicious meals for whichever days you stay.  The open bar will be available as often as they'll let us and will have wine, beer, and non-alcoholic drinks. â€‹â€‹

where to stay

Onsite!

Islandwood has 4 lodges with 12 to 16 rooms each, along with a Great Room for hanging out.  The Great Rooms have stone fireplaces, seating, board games, laundry facilities, and a small refrigerator.

Every room has a private bathroom & shower, closet, and underfloor heating.  Rooms can accommodate up to 6 guests.  There are a variety of room arrangements, though most have a queen bed and 2 bunks, with the bottom bunks being full size.  There is no air conditioning, but if it's unseasonably warm fans will be provided.

The lodges do not have TVs, but there is wifi and decent (though not amazing) cell service on campus.

When we receive your RSVP, we will contact you with information about how to reserve & pay for lodging.  There are enough rooms for all our invited guests!

If the elevated summer camp life is not for you, there are plenty of nearby options both on Bainbridge Island or in downtown Seattle, which is just a 35 minute ferry away.

how to get here

ferry

The best way to get to Islandwood is to take the ferry from downtown Seattle to Bainbridge Island.  The crossing takes 35 minutes and we'll have a shuttle waiting on the other side to take you the remaining 10 minutes to Islandwood.

The ferry is great, it has incredible views of the city, Puget Sound, the Cascade and Olympic mountains and Mt Rainier on a clear day.  We often take visitors on it just for the view.  It also serves drinks.  And snacks.

It runs every 50 minutes and always has room for walk-on passengers, but cars sometimes have to wait a little at peak times.

From the airport, you can take the Link light rail or a $45 fixed rate taxi fare to the Seattle ferry terminal.  Note that the Link involves a 10 minute walk from the terminal to the SeaTac Airport station, and another 10 minute walk from the Pioneer Square station down to the ferry terminal.

drive

We've tried to make it so you won't need a car, but you are more than welcome to bring one and there is plenty of parking at the venue.  If driving, you can take the car on the ferry or drive south through Tacoma (which takes about 2 hours).

what to wear

The ceremony & reception will be semi-formal.

Please note: the ceremony will be outside, on grass, in the Pacific Northwest.  June is sometimes sunny, but not always--so come prepared for a little drizzle!  If it truly pours, we'll move the ceremony inside.
